Evelyn Dick was arrested for murder after the torso of her missing estranged husband was found by children. His head and limbs had been sawed off and burned in Evelyn’s furnace. She was convicted to hang in 1946, but won an acquittal. Later, authorities found her baby’s body encased in cement in a suitcase in her attic. She was tried again for murder in 1947 and sentenced to life in prison, but was paroled in 1958 after serving eleven years. She eventually disappeared from public.
